1 Organizing Authority
The Organizing Authority is the United States Soling Association (USSA), in conjunction with the Valcour Sailing Club, Inc.
2 Rules
The event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008, and the Rules of the International Soling Association (ISA). This Notice of Race will rule except as amended or altered by the Sailing Instructions. All racing will be fleet racing.
3 Advertising
The Championship will be a category C event in accordance with RRS 79 and Appendix G.
4 Eligibility and Entry
The regatta is open to all yachts declared eligible by the USSA, CISA or their national Soling association. All skippers must be members of the USSA, CISA, or the ISA. Proof of membership shall be demonstrated prior to the start of Race # 1 of these championships, by the display of the current Soling class sticker in accordance with class rules.
5 Schedule of Events
5.1 On-site registration will be at Plattsburgh Boat Basin marina, on Saturday, September 27th, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. There will be representatives of the Lake Champlain Soling Fleet there to help with registration, parking, and rigging.
5.2 Competitor’s meeting will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 27th, 2008.
5.3 The regatta will consist of as many races as practical up to seven races. The start time for the first race each day will be 10:00 am.
5.4 No warning signal shall be made after 2:00 pm on Sunday.
6 Registration/Entry Fee
The entry fee is $75 US. Entrants are encouraged to register by mail, by completing the official entry form attached to this notice, and enclosing a check, payable to the Valcour Sailing Club, P. O. Box 1362, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Boats may also register on Saturday , September 27th, 2008 at the regatta site. The entry fee includes, the regatta, use of the dry sail lift, parking and trailer storage during the event.
7 Measurement and Safety
Regatta officials reserve the right to measure and/or stamp all sails and ask each yacht to submit a valid measurement certificate. Random inspections for class safety rules may be conducted at any time during the regatta.
8 Liability
The organizing authorities and/or any part, person involved in the regatta, will accept no liability and responsibility for any personal or material damage sustained prior to, during, or after the regatta.
9 Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions shall be available at registration.
10 Regatta Site
The regatta site is at Plattsburgh Boat Basin Marina, 1 Dock Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. From Interstate 87, take exit 37 and turn right (east) on Route 3. This becomes Cornelia Street. Stay straight and continue on Cornelia St., still going east. At downtown Plattsburgh, turn right at City Hall onto Route 9. Go one block, and turn left onto Bridge Street, following the waterfront signs to the marina. This is also the location of the Naked Turtle Bar and Restaurant.

11 Racing Areas
The racing area shall be in Cumberland Bay, at Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Lake Champlain.
This is also labeled as Plattsburgh Bay on some road signs.
12 Courses
The courses will be windward-leeward as shown in the sailing instructions.
13 Scoring
The low point scoring system, RRS Appendix A2 scoring system will apply. There are seven races scheduled for the U.S Championships. Four races completed shall constitute a regatta. In RRS A2.1, if five races are completed, each boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst for a score prohibited from exclusion by Rules A1-3.
14 Penalties
The 720- degree turns penalty, and RRS 44.1 and 44.2 of the rules will apply.
15 Haul–out restrictions
Boats shall have unrestricted hauling during this regatta. Please bring fenders and docking lines.
16 Prizes
Prizes will be awarded.
