1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of
Sailing.
Additional rules for the ORC-Sportboats Class:
- ORC-Sportboats Class Rules 2005
- ORC Special Regulations Cat. 5
1.2 The prescriptions of the German Sailing Federation will apply except for the
ORC-Sportboats Class.
1.3 If there is conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2 ADVERTISING
The regatta will be classified as Category C (RRS 79, ISAF Regulation 20)
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the following classes:
Platu / Beneteau 25 - Berlin Championship (RF 1,25)
H-Boat - Berlin Championship (RF: 1,15)
Streamline - Inofficial Berlin Championship (RF: 1,35)
Starboat - (RF 1,15)
Skippi 650R - (RF 1,2)
ORC-Sportboats Class - (RF: 1,35)
Soling
3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form of the German/Berlin
Sailing Federation and sending it to the BYC, or by internet at the homepage of
BYC.
Entry closing date: Friday, 03 October 2008 (incoming)
3.3 Eligibility for the Sportboats-Class: look at the Pre-entry-list on the website of
BYC.
3.4 Measurement certificates and classification:
The actual valid measurement certificate is basis for the classification.
A copy of the valid measurement certificate shall be presented together with the
entry form. This certificate cannot be replaced by another one until the end of the
event.

For two ore more boats of a One-Design-Class only one measurement certificate
is needed by the organizer.
ORC-Sportboats-Class Scoring:
The ORC-Club Performance Line Scoring or the ORC-Triple-No.-System will
apply.
4 LIMIT OF REGISTRATION
A minimum o 10 boats per class is required, if less than 10 boats are registered
up to the closing date, the class will be not started!
5 FEES
Entry fee is as follows:
€ 60,-- per entered boat including skipper and additionally € 10,-- for each
crewmember.
An late registration is possible until October 9th, 2008, by a penalty of 20,-- €.
The entry fee shall be transferred to the organizer within the entry closing date
limit using the following bank account:

Entered boats shall pay their entry fee even if they do not participate.
5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Dates of racing:
10/11/12-10-2008 Platu25/Beneteau 25, Sportboats, Streamline, Skippi 650R
11/12-10-2008 H-Boat, Starboat, Soling
5.2 Number of races:

On Friday, 10-10-2008, only a maximum of two races is allowed.
5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race for Platu/Beneteau 25,
ORC-Sportboats, Streamline and Skippi 650R is 10-10-2008, 2:00 pm,
and for H-Boat, Starboat and Soling is 11-10-2008, 10:00 am.
5.4 No initiation of start sequence will be given on Sunday 12-10-2008
later than 2:00 pm.
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available after 5:00 pm on the day before the first
race at the BYC clubhouse.
7 VENUE
The sailing area is the Lake Wannsee and the River Havel.

8 THE COURSES
The course to be sailed will be a Triangle- or Up-And-Down-Course.
9 INTERNATIONAL JURY
An International Jury will be appointed with the approval of the German Sailing
Federation. Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in RRS
70.4.
10 SCORING
10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.
10.2 3 races are required to be completed to deliver the perpetual trophies.
10.3 (a) Platu/Beneteau 25, ORC-Sportboats, Streamline, Skippi 650R:
When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores.
When from 5 to 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
When 8 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
(b) H-Boat, Starboat, Soling:
When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores.
When 4 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be
the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11 RADIO COMMUNICATION
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio
communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile
telephones.
12 PRIZES
Prices are awarded within every class for the first quarter,
starting out from the number of boats registered effectively at closing date.
13 CHALLENGE TROPHIES
It will be given the following challenge trophies:
>> SENATSPREIS for the class Beneteau 25
>> SENATSPREIS for the class H-Boat
>> SENATSPREIS for the class Sportboats
>> SENATSPREIS for the Streamline Class
>> SENATSPREIS for the class Skippi 650R
We ask all last year winners to hand over the engraved prices to the BYC office at
the latest 4 weeks before the regatta is taking place.

14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
14.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4,
Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material
damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to,
during, or after the regatta.
14.2 The responsibility for the decision of a coxswain to participate in a race or to
continue with it is solely with him, to that extent he also takes the responsibility for
his crew. The coxswain is responsible for the qualification and the correct nautical
conduct of his crew as well as for the suitability and the transport-safe condition of
the registered boat. In cases of Force Majeure or on grounds of administrative
orders or for safety reasons, the organizer is entitled to make changes in the
realization of the event or to cancel the event. In these cases there does not exist
any liability for compensation of the organizer to the participant. In case of a
violation of obligations that do not constitute primary respectively material
contractual duties (cardinal obligations), the liability of the organizer, no matter
because of which cause in law, for material and property damages of all kinds and
their consequences that arise to the participant during or in connection with the
participation in the event resulting from a conduct of the organizer, his
representatives, servants or agents, is restricted to damages that were caused
wilfully or grossly negligent. When a violation of cardinal obligations occurs, in
cases of simple negligence the liability of the organizer is limited to foreseeable,
typically occurring damages. To the extent that the liability for damages of the
organizer is excluded or restricted, the participant also relieves the staff –
employees and representatives, agents, servants, sponsors and individuals who
provide or drives salvage, safety or rescue vessels or assist with their use – from
the individual liability for damages, as well as also all other individuals who were
instructed to act in connection with the realization of the event. The effective
racing rules of the ISAF, the administrative regulations regatta-sailing and the
articles of association of the DSV (does not apply to ORC Sportboats), the class
rules as well as the regulations of the invitation to the competition and the sailing
instructions are to be complied with and are expressly recognized.
14.3 The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply.
15 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance
which includes the race risk.

17 SOCIAL EVENT
Welcome buffet on Saturday, 11-10-2007, 6:00 pm for all competitors.
18 PRICE GIVING
The price giving ceremony will be held at the BYC clubhouse approx. 2 h after
completion the last race.

Warning: Due to a water protective area, parking of Motor vehicles is on the terrain of
the BYC only with an oil pad "Ölmatte" permitted.
Moreover, the number of car parks on the club area is
limited. Please therefore use the parking facilities within walking distance on
the Island of Schwanenwerder or in the area of the Strandbad Wannsee.
