Notice of Race
Organizing Authority
The organizing authority is the International Soling Class (ISA) in conjunction with the Chiemsee Yacht Club (Organizing Committee).
1. Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
1.2 The prescriptions of the German Sailing Federation will not apply.
1.3 The ISA Championship Rules will apply
1.4 The following racing rules will be changed: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(c), 60.1(a), 61.3, 62.2, 66, A11 and Race Signals AP and S. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
1.5 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.
2. Advertising category
The regatta is designated Category C under ISAF Regulation 20
3. Eligibility and entry
3.1 The Regatta is open to all yacht of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility
Masters:
The Masters World Championship is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class of which:
1. the helm must be aged at least 50 years on the first scheduled day of racing
2. the aggregate ages of the crew of three must be at least 120 years on that day.
Omega-Cup:
The Omega-Cup is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class. Eligibility without any limitation of age of competitors. The Omega-Cup can be sailed with a crew of 3 or 2 persons.
3.2 ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee.
3.3 It is also required that all yachts entering display the ISA sticker for the current year. An additional amount will be collected from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position.
3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form on the event website (www.soling.com/masters/2008 or www.chiemseeyachtclub.de) no later than 25th april 2008 and completing registration and payment of all fees
4. Fees
The entry fee will be 200€ plus 35UK pounds (the ISA Championship fee for the Masters) and may be paid by credit transfer (IBAN: DE 40 7115 0000 0000 2556 61 BIC SWIFT: BYLADEM 1ROS or by cash in euro at registration. The entry fee includes craning on the Club’s hoists, mooring and some social events
5. Registration
The Race Office at Chiemsee Yacht Club will be open for registration on 30th april 2008 from 9.00 to 17.00 and 1 may from 8.00 to 11.00
6. Schedule
6.1 Measurement and inspection will take place at Chiemsee Yacht Club on 30th april 2008 from 12.00 to 17.00; 1 may from 8.00 to 11.00. Not measured sails will not be accepted.
6.2 Racing is scheduled as follows :
1 may 12:00 am skippers meeting.
All Solings have to be craned in 2 hours before the first start.
Subsequent starts will be announced at the official notice board. Up to four races can be sailed on one day.
6.3 The first Warning Signal will be at 01.00 pm
7. Measurement
Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and Class Rules 16 and 17. For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or copy of original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in the Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.
8. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration
9. The courses
Standard ISA Championship courses will be used
10. Penalty System
10.1 The two – turns penalty, rule 44.2 RRS, will apply
11. Scoring
11.1 The Low Point Scoring System of appendix A4 RRS will apply
11.2 7 Races are scheduled of which 5 must be completed to constitute a valid Championship
11.3 a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
11.4 b) When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score
11.5 At the Omega-Cup the discard of the worst score is allowed after 4 races sailed
12. Prizes
World Master Cup of the International Soling Association
Prizes will be given to the best six teams overall of the Worlds and the Omega-Cup.
13. Disclaimer of liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 RRS “decision to race”. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. This has to be signed seperately at registration by the whole crew.
14. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid and adequate third-party liability insurance cover while racing.
15. Media and Rights Waiver
By entering this regatta , the owner (or charterer) and crew members on competing yachts at the Soling Masters Worlds 2008 grant at no cost the absolute right and permission to use their names, voices , images, likenesses and biographical material, as well as representations of their yacht: in any media (including television, photo, print and internet), to the Organizing Committee.
16. Advertising
Competing yachts may be required to display advertising material provided by the Organizing Committee.
17. Social Events
Thursday, May 01, 12.00 am opening ceremony, and after sailing, Bacardy party.
Friday, May 02, 16:00 pm visit of Herrenchiemsee and dinner on the boat.
Saturday, May 03, 19:30 pm dinner in the casino of CYC
18 Prize Giving
asap after the last race (exact time will be announced on the notice board)
