Three races in southern winds from 18 to 24 knots with gusts up to 28 knots for the italian open championship. The 12 boats fleet from three countries, made a strong comeback in lake Garda showing the skills of the Soling in big breeze. Roman Koch, Maximilian Koch and Gregor Bornemann, in Riva to prepare the next Worlds in Toronto, took three bullets. ITA 251 Michele Tognozzi, Fabio Piccioni and Giuliano Carotti from Club velico Castiglione della Pescaia with a 2-3-2 took the lead in the italian Championship, with 6 points over local Gianni Torboli (Olympian in Atlanta 1996) with ITA 242 and 7 points over the ITA 259 of the Maffezoli brothers by Bardolino. Good second race for Virgilio Cadei ITA 213 from Lovere that took and early lead in the first beat and was overlapped by Koch only in the second beat to finish second. In the third race GER 300 and ITA 251 made a nice pin start and tacked immediately to cross the fleet to secure the first two places.
